Drivers proficient in multiple languages have seen their earnings increase by 8-10%, highlighting the economic benefits of language skills.
Savaari Car Rentals, an intercity cab service, has introduced a ‘Driver Language Preference’ feature in 25 cities across India. The feature aims to bridge communication gaps during travel by connecting customers with drivers who speak their preferred language. Savaari has collaborated with local taxi operators to implement this feature, leading to positive feedback from both customers and drivers.

Driver Language Preference

The ‘Driver Language Preference’ feature addresses the challenge of India's diverse linguistic landscape, where dialects can change frequently. Savaari Car Rentals identified this as a significant barrier for some travelers using intercity cab services. This feature allows customers to select their preferred language when booking, ensuring a smoother and more comfortable travel experience.

Since its launch, the feature has been utilised in 13% of Savaari's bookings. Bangalore, Chennai, and Kolkata have emerged as the cities with the highest adoption rates for this feature. The company has recorded a 20% rise in its Net Promoter Score (NPS) for trips where the language preference feature was used. This indicates enhanced customer satisfaction and a growing preference for this service.

“The Driver Language Preference feature enhances the travel experience by making it more immersive and comfortable for our customers. At the same time, it creates opportunities for taxi operators to earn more by leveraging the language skills of their drivers. We’ve seen a 20% increase in Net Promoter Score (NPS) on trips where this feature has been used, along with strong repeat business in key markets like Chennai, Mumbai, and Delhi,” stated Gaurav Aggarwal, Founder and CEO of Savaari Car Rentals.

Enhances economic benefits for drivers

Drivers proficient in multiple languages have seen their earnings increase by 8-10%, highlighting the economic benefits of language skills. This initiative has motivated drivers to enhance their language abilities to cater to a wider customer base. Data reveals that nearly one-third of drivers working with Savaari are now fluent in at least one language besides their native tongue. Southern cities like Chennai, Bangalore, Madurai, and Mysore are leading this trend.

Savaari Car Rentals is committed to empowering its taxi operator partners by investing in driver education and language proficiency programs. This includes developing interactive quizzes and upskilling modules within their partner app. The company is also incorporating driver-generated content in various local languages. These short videos will be available during booking confirmation, further boosting customer confidence in their chosen driver's language proficiency.
