Zelio Ebikes launches e-rickshaw models, Tanga Butterfly and Tanga SS for urban commuters

Zelio Ebikes has launched its first e-rickshaw models, the Tanga Butterfly and Tanga SS, expanding into the shared mobility sector. The launch took place following a successful showcase at the EV India Expo 2024 in New Delhi. Priced at INR 1,45,000 and INR 1,40,000 respectively, these e-rickshaws target urban and semi-urban commuters seeking last-mile connectivity solutions. Both models offer a range of 100 km and a top speed of 30 km/h, powered by a 1200W motor and a 48/60V 135Ah Eastman battery.

Zelio Ebikes has officially entered the e-rickshaw segment with the launch of the Tanga Butterfly and Tanga SS models. These e-rickshaws were unveiled at the EV India Expo 2024 in New Delhi and are now available for purchase. The company aims to address the growing demand for last-mile transportation options in both urban and semi-urban areas.

New product range

The Tanga Butterfly, constructed with Mild Steel (MS), is priced at INR 1,45,000. The Tanga SS, made with Stainless Steel (SS), is priced at INR 1,40,000. Both prices are ex-showroom.

Both the Tanga Butterfly and Tanga SS offer a range of 100 km on a single charge, reaching a top speed of 30 km/h. They are equipped with a 1200W motor and a 48/60V 135Ah Eastman battery.

The Tanga Butterfly is available in Red, Grey, White, Sky Blue, and Military Green. The Tanga SS comes in Blue, Red, Sea Blue, Parrot Green, and Grey.

Features

The braking systems on both models feature a front lever-operated drum brake, a rear paddle-operated drum brake, and a mechanical hand lever-operated parking brake.

The suspension comprises 43mm telescopic hydraulic shockers at the front and leaf spring shockers at the rear, contributing to a smoother ride.

Both models utilise TVS-made 3.75-12 mm tires for both the front and rear wheels. The chassis incorporates a high-rigidity monocoque frame for enhanced durability and safety.

The dimensions of the e-rickshaws are as follows: wheelbase of 2030 mm, length of 2690 mm, width of 1000 mm, height of 1710 mm, and ground clearance of 200 mm. These dimensions are designed for optimal maneuverability in urban and semi-urban environments.

Several features are included for driver and passenger convenience, including a front glass with wiper, stepney with cover, handle lock, FM radio with double speakers, digital meter, central locking, heavy curtains, taxi light, LED cabin light, LED headlamps with DRL, LED indicators, bottle holder, and cash pocket.

Accessories provided with both models include a fire extinguisher, first aid kit, tool kit, and jack.

Easy financing

Financing options are available through AKASHA and TRY Wheels to facilitate the purchase process. Zelio is establishing a dedicated dealership network to provide specialized support and services for its e-rickshaw customers.

Founded in 2021, Zelio has quickly grown to over 273 dealerships and more than 200,000 customers. The company plans to expand its dealership network to 400 by March 2025, furthering its commitment to sustainable transportation in India.
