City traffic police penalised 50 vehicle owners on Thursday for using unauthorised metal plates with inscriptions identifying them as govt officials, and beacons illegally. The special drive was conducted by the traffic cops across the city on Christmas evening with the aim to stopping troublemakers attempting to cause disruptions during the celebration.

City Traffic SP Aprajit Lohan said the traffic police conducted a thorough vehicle checking drive along JP Ganga Path, Atal Path, and Bailey Road.
