Over 6K booked for traffic violations in T’puram

For violating traffic rules and not wearing helmets, cases were registered against 2,477 persons. For violating other parking rules, 3,461 persons were booked.
In a joint inspection being conducted by motor vehicle department and city police over the last 10 days, legal measures were initiated against 6,505 people and 56 vehicles were seized for various violations.

Cases have been registered against 286 persons for drunken driving, 281 for rash and negligent driving. After recording arrests, they were allowed to leave and measures have been initiated to revoke their licence, police informed.

For violating traffic rules and not wearing helmets, cases were registered against 2,477 persons. For violating other parking rules, 3,461 persons were booked.

The vehicles were seized for altering number plates and silencers and for tripling during rides on two-wheelers. Several persons were also booked for riding vehicles through footpaths.
