The EV charging station project is being funded under the central govt's National Clean Air Programme (NCAP).
The civic body has decided to make five EV charging stations operational by the end of this month.

The Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) has proposed a total of 29 EV charging stations in various locations of the city. "We have already completed the civil works for 10 charging stations. These stations have also got power connections from the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL)," a civic official said.

"We are in the process of finalising the rates for charging the vehicles. A proposal in this regard is to be presented during the standing committee meeting for approval," the official said.

The EV charging station project is being funded under the central govt's National Clean Air Programme (NCAP). The civic body has already received Rs86 crore, out of which Rs12 crore are to be spent on setting up the EV charging stations. Each charging station will have the capacity to charge two four-wheelers and three two-wheelers at one time.

"This is a part of the initiatives to promote use of electric vehicles in the city so that the number of vehicles based on petrol or diesel can come down. Moreover, it is also the policy of the civic body to procure only electric cars for its officials and office-bearers," the official said.

The 29 locations selected for the EV charging stations include six divisional office buildings of the NMC, Rajiv Gandhi Bhavan, near Tapovan bus depot, Amrutdham fire station, Satpur fire station, Raje Sambhaji stadium, Bytco hospital, Krishi Nagar jogging track in Nashik West division, and Pramod Mahajan garden in Nashik West.
