The Honda 0 Saloon prototype, refined from the 2024 concept model, retains its low, sporty styling while boasting a surprisingly spacious interior.
Honda premiered two prototype models, the Honda 0 Saloon and Honda 0 SUV, at CES 2025. These represent the Honda 0 Series, launching globally in 2026. Honda also introduced its ASIMO OS operating system for these vehicles. The prototypes showcase advanced technology like Level 3 automated driving and personalised user experiences. Production is slated to begin in North America in 2026, followed by other markets including Japan and Europe. The ASIMO OS, named after Honda's iconic humanoid robot, will power the software-defined vehicle features. Honda is partnering with Renesas to develop a dedicated system-on-chip for the vehicles. New energy services, including an expansive charging network and vehicle-to-grid technology, will support the Honda 0 Series.

Honda 0 series

The Honda 0 Saloon prototype, refined from the 2024 concept model, retains its low, sporty styling while boasting a surprisingly spacious interior. This flagship model utilises a new EV architecture and embodies the “Thin, Light and Wise” development approach of the Honda 0 Series. The Honda 0 SUV is scheduled for a North American launch in the first half of 2026, then a global release.

The Honda 0 Saloon will launch in North America in 2026, followed by global markets.

The Honda 0 SUV prototype, derived from the Space-Hub concept, showcases the potential of EVs as personal spaces. The “Thin, Light, and Wise” approach maximises interior space, visibility, and flexibility.

ASIMO OS

This model, like the saloon, features next-generation technologies. The ASIMO OS powers "ultra-personal optimisation" and digital UX for an “ever-advancing” space. Robotics-derived technology provides precise attitude estimation and stabilisation control.

“Wise” is represented by the Level 3 automated driving technology and “ultra-personal optimisation” features enabled by the ASIMO OS.

The ASIMO OS, named after Honda's humanoid robot, is central to the Honda 0 Series. ASIMO was a symbol of robotics innovation, and Honda aims to evoke that same spirit with its new vehicle OS.

ASIMO OS integrates control of various electronic control units (ECUs), encompassing automated driving, infotainment, and other systems.

Over-the-air (OTA) updates will constantly evolve the software, tailoring functions and services to individual user preferences and needs. These updates will enhance the in-vehicle “space,” digital UX, and driving dynamics.

Integration of AIMO OS into Honda o series

Honda plans to integrate ASIMO OS into all Honda 0 Series models. Honda was the first automaker to implement Level 3 automated driving in a production vehicle with the 2021 Legend, featuring Honda SENSING Elite.

“Honda believes that the widespread use of eyes-off technology will lead toward the realisation of zero traffic collision fatalities in the future,” the company stated.

Honda aims to democratise automated driving through the Honda 0 Series. They're employing AI technology from Helm.ai, combined with driver behavior models, to expand the range of automated driving scenarios.

Honda is also using its own cooperative AI to improve complex driving behaviors like yielding. This will result in a more reliable driver-assistance system capable of handling unexpected situations.

Honda 0 Series models will receive OTA updates to expand the capabilities of driver assistance and Level 3 automated driving, starting with eyes-off functionality in highway traffic jams.

Honda aims to be the first automaker to offer eyes-off capabilities in all driving situations.

Honda and Renesas Electronics Corporation are partnering to develop a high-performance system-on-chip (SoC) for future Honda 0 Series models.

These models, launching in the late 2020s, will feature a centralised E&E architecture with a single core ECU.

Honda energy services

Honda's energy services for the 0 Series focus on a stress-free charging network and utilising EV batteries for clean, smart living.

In North America, Honda is part of IONNA, a joint venture aiming to install 30,000 high-quality charging stations by 2030.

The Honda 0 Series will utilise the North American Charging Standard (NACS), providing access to over 100,000 charging stations by 2030.

Honda is developing a personalised charging service using AWS technologies, including Amazon Bedrock, to simplify finding charging stations and payments.

Honda is expanding its Honda Smart Charge service in North America, integrating it with a Home Energy Management System and ChargeScape's Vehicle Grid Integration (VGI) system.

This will reduce electricity costs and CO2 emissions for customers, starting in 2026.

Honda 0 Series vehicles will function as a virtual power plant (VPP), charging during low-cost/renewable energy periods and discharging during peak times.

The vehicles can also supply power to the grid during shortages, generating income for owners. Honda's battery management technology minimises degradation from repeated charging and discharging.
