PIC officials said they would submit the policy recommendations before the expiry of the current policy which falls on March 31, 2025. The existing Maharashtra EV Policy was introduced in 2021 as a revision to the 2018 policy.

The announcement came during a media briefing primarily focused on PIC’s infrastructure expansion. The think tank revealed plans for its new headquarters, which is being built on a seven-acre plot in Panchavati, Pashan. State govt has leased the land for 30 years, and the new facility is scheduled for inauguration on Jan 26.

Raghunath Mashelkar, president of PIC, reflected on the organisation’s genesis with a historical perspective. “From Gokhale to Agharkar to Ranade, all the great thinkers of the nation came from Pune at one time. Why can’t we have it now? Pune was always ahead in thought,” he said
