The Authority has approved the renewal of 6-phase passenger transport licenses of 1850 buses of the Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport Enterprise (BEST) as per the Motor Vehicles Act.The fares of black and yellow meter taxis (CNG) and auto-rickshaws (CNG) were revised in the meeting of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Transport Authority on September 26, 2022. Subsequently, due to the increase in the average price of the vehicle , consumer index , interest rate of vehicle loan, etc., the authority has approved the increase in the fares of black and yellow meter taxis (CNG) and auto-rickshaws in the meeting of the State Transport Department held on January 23.
The fare revision will be applicable to all black-yellow metered taxis (CNG) and auto-rickshaws (CNG) in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Transport Authority area. The fare revision will be effective from February 1, 2025.
Taxi and autorickshaw licensees who will get their fare meters recalibrated as per the revised fare rates. This fare hike will be applicable to those auto-rickshaws and taxis. It will be necessary to get the fare meters recalibrated from February 1, 2025 to April 30, 2025. (Pending the recalibration of the fare meters, the revised official tariff card will be admissible only up to April 30, 2025.)

The Authority has approved the construction of 02 new black-yellow meter taxi stands , 68 auto-rickshaw stands and 09 share-A auto-rickshaw stands in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Authority area for the convenience of passengers and in line with "Last Mile Connectivity". The Government had constituted the Khatua Committee to prescribe the fare formula for black-yellow meter taxis (CNG) and auto-rickshaws.
The report submitted by the Committee has been accepted by the Government by its decision dated 09 March 2020. Accordingly, the fare is calculated as per the fare formula for black-yellow meter taxis (CNG) and auto-rickshaws (CNG) and taking into account factors such as the average price of the vehicle, consumer index , interest rate of vehicle loan etc. Under Section 68 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 , the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Transport Authority Committee has been constituted by the State Government.
The revised rates are as follows:-
The fare for black-yellow meter taxis (CNG) has been revised from Rs 18.66 per km to Rs 20.66. Now the minimum fare for black-yellow meter taxis (CNG) will be Rs 28 per km to Rs 31.
The fare per km for Coolcab has been revised from Rs 26.71 to Rs 37.2 (20 percent increase). Now the minimum fare per 1.5 km for Kulcab will be Rs 48 (20 percent increase) from Rs 40.
The previous fare per km for autorickshaw (CNG) has been revised from Rs 15.33 to Rs 17.14. Now the minimum fare payable for autorickshaw (CNG) per 1.5 km will be Rs 26 from Rs 23.
