Mahindra XEV 9eMahindra has launched "Sonic Studio Experience by Mahindra," a new in-car audio system, debuting on the BE 6e and XEV 9e electric SUVs. The system features technology from Harman Kardon and Dolby Atmos, and includes personalised sound elements created by AR Rahman and Richard King. The aim is to provide an immersive and high-quality audio experience for passengers.
The new audio system is designed to transform the in-car experience. It incorporates advanced technology and artistic contributions to create a unique soundscape. The collaboration between Mahindra, Harman Kardon, Dolby Atmos, AR Rahman, and Richard King signifies a focus on enhancing the overall driving experience.
Debuting with BE 6e and XEV 9e
It is being introduced with Mahindra's newly launched BE 6e and XEV 9e electric SUVs. The goal is to elevate the sensory experience within the vehicles. Mahindra worked with several industry leaders and artists to achieve this goal.
“With Sonic Studio Experience by Mahindra, we have redefined what in-cabin sound can be, combining cutting-edge technology with artistic brilliance. Partnering with legends like AR Rahman and Richard King, and collaborating with industry leaders Harman Kardon and Dolby, we have created an audio experience that is immersive, transformative, and uniquely Mahindra. This is a testament to our commitment to delivering not just vehicles, but experiences that resonate deeply with our customers,” stated R. Velusamy, President - Automotive Product Development, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. and Joint Managing Director, Mahindra Electric Automobile Limited.
Two microphones in the cabin capture sounds like singing or talking. These sounds are then incorporated into the audio playback. This creates an interactive and participatory listening experience. The system's algorithm processes these sounds and mixes them seamlessly with the music.
The audio system's sound has been meticulously tuned by Harman Kardon experts in collaboration with Mahindra. They conducted both objective and subjective evaluations to optimise the audio for every seat in the SUVs. The system adapts to road conditions and external noise to maintain audio quality.
Features
The system is built around a 16-speaker, 1,400-watt Harman Kardon system with Dolby Atmos technology. This creates a three-dimensional sound experience within the vehicle's cabin. Mahindra is the first Indian OEM to incorporate Dolby Atmos in a car audio system, along with Harman Kardon's VenueScapes Live.
“Working on the BE 6e and XEV 9e has been an immensely satisfying experience as I sought to create a soundscape that transforms every drive into a memorable journey. By envisioning the emotions passengers might be experiencing on their travels, my goal was to design sounds that not only enhance the driving experience but also complement the journey and make it uniquely enjoyable. It’s been a joy working with Mahindra and the team of experts to bring this vision to life,” stated AR Rahman.
VenueScapes Live recreates the acoustics of famous concert halls and stadiums. Venues include the Royal Opera House in Mumbai, Boston Symphony Hall, and Wembley Stadium. This feature aims to transport passengers to different musical environments within their SUVs.
“Having spent years in some of the finest recording studios and listening rooms globally, I can confidently say that the Harman sound system in the BE 6e and XEV 9e offers a studio-quality audio experience. A whole lot of effort has gone into perfecting the sound for the BE 6e and XEV 9e and I believe listeners will be captivated by its precision, depth and immersion,” believes Richard King.
Richard King, a 16-time Grammy Award-winning sound engineer, worked on tuning the sound system. He believes the system provides a studio-quality experience and that listeners will appreciate its high fidelity.
