Oct 22, 2024

Earlier this month, the company introduced the much-anticipated new Virtus GT Line and Virtus GT Plus Sport, featuring sporty aesthetics in a new black-themed avatar.
Volkswagen India has announced that the Virtus has crossed the milestone of 50,000 units sold domestically within 28 months. This achievement cements its status as India's top-selling premium sedan for the year 2024, with over 17,000 units sold this calendar year alone, the company said in a media release.

Volkswagen's India 2.0 strategy, which includes the Virtus and Taigun models, has also topped the domestic sales milestone of one lakh units in the second quarter of the year. By the end of Q3 2024, the brand surpassed the 6.5 lakh domestic wholesales milestone in India. The India 2.0 models, particularly the Virtus and Taigun, have significantly contributed to nearly 18.5% of Volkswagen’s domestic sales since their market introduction over three years ago.

Ashish Gupta, Brand Director of Volkswagen Passenger Cars India said, "We are immensely grateful to all our customers for making the Volkswagen Virtus India’s No.1 selling premium sedan. The Virtus continues to resonate strongly with our customers, and crossing the 50 000 sales mark is a testament to the product's success in the Indian market, making it India’s most loved premium sedan. Ever since its launch, we have sold nearly 60 Virtus sedans every day, and we are glad that Virtus has carved its own cult following, as it continues to sustain the sales momentum, despite headwinds in its segment."

“We have also crossed the 6.5 lakh domestic wholesales milestone in India and are grateful to the extended Volkswagen family for their immense love and trust in the Brand. With our latest, feature rich and advanced India 2.0 models – Taigun and Virtus, we have also witnessed significant success, with both models contributing to nearly 18.5 % of our overall domestic sales since inception,” Gupta added.

Volkswagen's commitment towards efficiency

The Virtus has played a pivotal role in Volkswagen’s commitment to providing high-performance sedans with robust build quality and advanced safety features in India. Its popularity in the premium sedan segment is further demonstrated by its national record-breaking achievement in the 24-Hours Endurance Drive, where the Virtus GT covered an impressive distance of 4,654.48 km in 24 hours.

Earlier this month, the company introduced the much-anticipated new Virtus GT Line and Virtus GT Plus Sport, featuring sporty aesthetics in a new black-themed avatar.
