The AKX is powered by a Li-ion battery pack, available in two variants: 1.5 kWh with LFP chemistry and 2.3 kWh with NMC chemistry.
Emobi Manufacturing Private Limited, a Bengaluru-based start-up, has unveiled a new electric two-wheeler, the AKX Commuter. This Made-in-India vehicle brings performance, efficiency, and versatility, particularly for the last-mile delivery sector, stated the company. One of its highlighted features is a fast-charging battery system that recharges in just 30 minutes.

Features

The AKX is powered by a Li-ion battery pack, available in two variants: 1.5 kWh with LFP chemistry and 2.3 kWh with NMC chemistry. The LFP variant offers a range of up to 75 km on a single charge, while the NMC variant extends this up to 120 km. The battery can fully charge in 30 minutes using Emobi's proprietary fast chargers.

One of the key features of the AKX Commuter is its rapid charging system, allowing users to fully charge the battery within 30 minutes. This feature significantly improves operational efficiency by minimising downtime for charging.

Design

The motor of the AKX is custom-designed to ensure high efficiency in low-speed operations, adhering to regulatory standards. The vehicle's build and performance quality make it ideal for quick-commerce delivery operations.

Introducing the AKX LS, Emobi targets micro-mobility applications, particularly appealing to the 30% of riders involved in last-mile deliveries who may not hold suitable driving licenses for high-speed vehicles.

Emobi with Livaah Innovations

Emobi has partnered with Livaah Innovations to enhance the versatility of the AKX's battery pack. The battery is compatible with Livaah’s inverters, providing an option for Livaah’s solar hybrid inverter customers to use it for both vehicle power and as an energy backup during power outages. This dual-use capability is being marketed by Livaah to the B2C market, while Emobi focuses largely on the B2B segment for last mile delivery.

"We are excited to introduce the AKX Commuter to the Indian B2B EV fleet market. This advanced vehicle will not only enhance the efficiency of gig workers but also contribute to India’s sustainability goals. With our swappable battery system, we are offering a reliable transportation solution while enabling our customers to use the EV batteries for home power needs. Features like geo-fencing, live tracking, and vehicle immobilisation will assist fleet managers in securing and managing their vehicles effectively. With the AKX Commuter, we are confident that we will redefine the last-mile delivery and bike taxi landscape in India and, eventually, expand globally," said Bharath Rao, Founder and CEO of Emobi.

The AKX offers features such as geo-fencing, live tracking, and vehicle immobilisation. These features are tailored to provide efficiency and security to fleet managers.

What is the company's expectation from the product?

Emobi Manufacturing aims to bridge this gap with the AKX Commuter, providing a balance between cost and performance. The company’s focus on last-mile delivery operations highlights a targeted approach to address specific market needs while contributing to broader sustainability goals.

The AKX Commuter is expected to play a significant role in enhancing operational efficiency for gig workers, contributing to economic benefits and environmental sustainability. As Emobi continues to innovate, it aims to make a mark not just in the Indian market but also on a global scale.
