Wipro and Forvia partner to enhance vehicle safety with ADAS

Forvia leveraged Wipro Engineering Edge's Cloud Car solution, specifically its Microservices and vehicle container architecture, to improve its ADAS applications.
Wipro Limited, a technology services company, has collaborated with Forvia, a major automotive technology supplier, to optimise Forvia's Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) applications using cloud-native technology. This collaboration, signed in Q1 FY24, aims to enhance vehicle safety and comfort while making ADAS applications more cost-effective and adaptable.

Forvia leveraged Wipro Engineering Edge's Cloud Car solution, specifically its Microservices and vehicle container architecture, to improve its ADAS applications. This implementation enables Forvia's ADAS applications to function independently of specific hardware, resulting in reduced maintenance expenses and seamless integration into Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) value chains through cloud-native architecture.

Features

A notable aspect of this project involved Forvia's surround-view technology, which provides drivers with a 3D perspective of their surroundings for safe and convenient parking. All ADAS functions have been integrated into a loosely coupled, service-oriented microservice architecture. This architectural shift has resulted in significant cost reductions in the software development lifecycle (SDLC). Forvia can now market its ADAS features independently or in combination with features from customers or third parties.

Graziella Neuvéglise, Regional Head & Managing Director, Southern Europe, Wipro Limited said, “We’re very pleased with the outcome of this work for FORVIA. This project shows our strong and diverse skills in the Software Defined Vehicle area, working with automotive leaders to boost their growth and rethink safety and entertainment features using cloud-native engineering principles. We’re excited to keep working with FORVIA to help them achieve their ambitions.’

Vanessa Picron, Electronics Europe Division VP at Forvia said, “Within the software transformation of the automotive industry, moving to microservices & container architecture is a key lever to bring more competitive, easier to integrate functions to our customers and extend our business with new software only solutions, including on safety relevant features. This successful cooperation with Wipro is the convergence of a joint vision and complementary skills.”
