The car, which is locally produced at the BMW Group Plant Chennai, is available for bookings at BMW dealerships and online. BMW highlighted the car's popularity, noting that it has been the highest-selling performance car in India for over three years.

The exterior of the new BMW M340i xDrive maintains its sporty design. The front features a wide, low-slung appearance with a black mesh-style BMW kidney grille framed by a single surround. The grille connects to sleek Adaptive LED headlights with blue accents. The headlights are enhanced by the M Lights Shadowline, adding a sporty black tint.
The car's hood, long wheelbase, short overhangs, and flowing roofline contribute to its sporty profile. The exterior mirror caps feature a high-gloss black M Design. Horizontal lines and slim, darkened light units housing L-shaped LED taillights give the rear a wide, athletic stance. The car also features a body-colored M rear spoiler, air intake struts, and trapezoidal tailpipe trims. Completing the exterior are 19-inch Jet Black Alloy Wheels in 995M styling with Red M Sport Brakes Calipers.
Interior
The interior of the new BMW M340i xDrive combines luxury, comfort, and an M feel. The new digital BMW Curved Display is integrated into the cockpit, creating a floating appearance. The display features clear design, eye-catching graphics, modern colors, futuristic textures, and an interplay of reflections.
The sport seats, upholstered in Leather Varnasca in Black with M Highlights, provide lateral support and a wide range of adjustment. The interior also features a newly designed steering wheel with a red center marker at the 12 o'clock position, along with shift paddles. Other interior features include M High Gloss Shadowline, Individual Headliner Anthracite, and interior trim strips in Carbon Fibre. The digital instrument cluster and front door sills bear the 'M340i' model lettering. The car also features redesigned air vents, Welcome Light Carpet projected from the side sill, Ambient Lighting with six dimmable light designs, and automatic 3-zone A/C.

The car features an eight-speed Steptronic Sport automatic transmission with steering wheel paddle shifters and cruise control with braking function as standard.
