Mahindra & Mahindra reports 18% surge in December 2024 auto sales at 41,424 units

Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M Ltd.) reported a 16% rise in overall sales for December 2024, reaching 69,768 units. This growth was driven by strong performance in both the utility vehicle and commercial vehicle segments, as well as positive trends in the farm equipment sector. The company also achieved a significant milestone by becoming the only Indian auto company to attain Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) world leader status within the auto sector.

M&M Ltd. sold 41,424 utility vehicles in the domestic market during December, an 18% increase. Including exports, the company sold a total of 42,958 utility vehicles. Domestic commercial vehicle sales reached 19,502 units.

“We sold 41424 SUVs, a growth of 18% and 69768 total vehicles, a growth of 16% in December. The year ended on a high, as we became the only Indian auto company to attain the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) world leader status within the auto sector. The DJSI ranking is one of the most respected global benchmarks for ESG performance, covering over 13,000 companies across various industries and we are ranked 1st among all global auto OEMs,” said Veejay Nakra, President, Automotive Division, M&M Ltd.

Mahindra Farm equipment sales

Mahindra's farm equipment sector also showed strong growth in December 2024. Domestic tractor sales reached 22,019 units, up from 18,028 units in December 2023. Total tractor sales, including exports, were 22,943 units, compared to 19,138 units in the same period last year. Tractor exports for December 2024 stood at 924 units.

“We have sold 22019 tractors in the domestic market during December 2024, a growth of 22% over last year. Sentiments have remained positive in December on account of positive cash flow momentum from Kharif harvest,” stated Hemant Sikka, President - Farm Equipment Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.

Sikka further explained the positive factors driving tractor demand. Favourable reservoir levels have supported strong sowing for the rabi season, further boosting tractor sales.
