Curvv.ev Tata Motors reported its third-quarter fiscal year 2025 (Q3 FY25) sales figures on January 1, 2025. The company saw overall growth of nearly 1% year-over-year, driven by a slight increase in passenger vehicle (PV) sales and a marginal decline in commercial vehicle (CV) sales. Both domestic and international markets contributed to the total sales of 2,35,599 vehicles. The company also provided detailed breakdowns of sales by vehicle category and discussed market trends and future outlook.
December sales
For the month of December 2024, total domestic sales were 76,599 units, a 1% increase from the 76,138 units sold in December 2023. Cumulative domestic sales for Q3 FY25 reached 2,30,684 units, a slight 0% increase compared to the 2,29,610 units sold in Q3 FY24.
December CV sales
Within the CV category, domestic sales for December 2024 were 32,369 units, a minor decrease compared to the 32,668 units sold in December 2023. For the entire Q3 FY25, domestic CV sales totaled 91,260 units, a 1% decrease compared to the 91,735 units sold during Q3 FY24. International CV sales for December 2024 were 1,506 units and 4,510 units for the full Q3 FY25. This represents a minor decrease compared to the same period last year.
Domestic sales of medium and heavy commercial vehicles (MH&ICV) reached 15,968 units in December 2024, a decrease compared to the 16,851 units sold in December 2023. For Q3 FY25, domestic MH&ICV sales reached 44,023 units, compared to 44,365 units in Q3 FY24. Including international sales, MH&ICV sales totaled 16,604 units in December 2024 and 46,108 units for Q3 FY25.
December PV sales
Turning to passenger vehicles, domestic sales for December 2024 reached 44,230 units, a 2% increase compared to 43,470 units in December 2023. Cumulative domestic PV sales for Q3 FY25 totaled 1,39,424 units, a 1% increase over the 1,37,875 units sold in Q3 FY24. International PV sales were 59 units for December 2024 and 405 units for Q3 FY25.
Electric vehicle (EV) sales, encompassing both domestic and international markets, totaled 5,562 units in December 2024 and 16,119 units in Q3 FY25. This represents Y-o-Y growth of 11% and 6%, respectively. These figures include sales from Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Limited and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Limited.
Q3 FY25 results
Tata Motors' total sales for Q3 FY25 reached 2,35,599 units, compared to 2,34,981 units in Q3 FY24. This represents a marginal Y-o-Y increase. Total CV sales reached 95,770 units, a 1% decline compared to the same period last year. PV sales saw a 1% year-over-year growth, reaching 1,39,829 units.
