Deputy chief minister Bhatti Vikramarka on Sunday said the govt has proposed to expand Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) operations into mining lithium, graphite, and other minerals in the near future.

The govt will soon invite experts from around the world and seek their advice on how to move forward in making Singareni Collieries expand its mining operations for other minerals and not just confine to the coal fields. This will ensure a better future for Singareni and its employees.

He was speaking at a programme to give away a INR 1 lakh cheque to each of the 20 students selected for UPSC interviews after clearing Civils main. The govt presented a INR 1 lakh cheque to each of the students as part of the Rajiv Gandhi Civils Abhaya Hastham scheme.

The previous BRS govt used SCCL for political advantage instead of making efforts to put it on the international map. But the Congress govt is giving top priority to Singareni Collieries, as part of which it decided to ensure the welfare of its employees as a priority.

If employees are taken care of well, they will work hard for the growth of the company, and Rs one crore accidental insurance has been provided to them. The Congress govt recognises Singareni employees' contribution to Telangana. National growth of the Singareni is recognised as one of the priorities," he said.

"We want to transform Singareni into a globally renowned institution by expanding its operations into green energy projects in unused mining areas, transitioning towards green energy through solar and pumped storage projects. Recognising the global shift away from coal, the Congress govt plans to leverage Singareni's 100 years of mining expertise to explore mining for lithium and graphite," he said.
