MahaMetro officials emphasised the project's focus on safety, with regular maintenance for e-scooters and stringent compliance with govt regulations.
In a major step towards enhancing urban mobility, MahaMetro Nagpur signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with TS Switch E-Ride Private Limited to launch an app-based e-scooter sharing service.

The e-scooter service will feature app-based operations, allowing users to book, track, and pay for rides through a smartphone application. The app will also provide real-time updates on e-scooter availability, routes, and costs. Dedicated parking spaces for the e-scooters will be strategically located near Metro stations to ensure convenience for commuters.

MahaMetro officials emphasised the project's focus on safety, with regular maintenance for e-scooters and stringent compliance with govt regulations. Staff employed for the service will undergo police verification to further enhance security.

Commuters will benefit from flexible, cost-effective travel options to areas not directly connected by the Metro. Features like mobile wallet integration and real-time tracking aim to provide a seamless and hassle-free experience.

MahaMetro is collaborating with local planning authorities to identify additional docking stations, ensuring the service reaches more areas in the city. The service will align with Metro train schedules, starting 15 minutes before the first train and ending 15 minutes after the last train.

A MahaMetro official said, "The initiative aims to improve first and last-mile connectivity for Metro commuters, providing an eco-friendly and affordable transportation option. The MoU was signed at Metro Bhavan, with officials from MahaMetro and Switch E-Ride highlighting the project's potential to revolutionise public transport in Nagpur."

He added, "The service will ensure the availability of e-scooters at all Metro stations, making it easier for commuters to access destinations beyond the Metro network."

The initiative is in line with MahaMetro's commitment to sustainable transportation. The use of electric scooters is expected to reduce traffic congestion and carbon emissions, contributing to a greener urban environment. This project is expected to significantly boost Metro ridership while setting a benchmark for sustainable urban transport solutions in Nagpur.
