With an aim to minimize road accidents due to fog this winter, transport department will launch a reflective tape inspection campaign across Bihar from November 30. The comprehensive campaign aims to ensure vehicles are equipped with reflective tapes and adhere to traffic regulations, failing which they will be fined, according to an instruction to all district transport officers issued by transport secretary Sanjay Kumar Agarwal on Thursday.

Agarwal said the main goal of the campaign is to enhance the visibility of drivers and ensure a safe travel on road. "During winter season, fog and mist reduces visibility, raising the risk of accidents. Reflective tapes on vehicles will help prevent accidents. Under Rule 104 of the Central Motor Vehicle Rules, reflective tape is mandatory. Vehicles without reflective tape will be fined, and drivers will be made aware of the need to paste it," he said.

"Vehicle owners and drivers are urged to paste reflective tape on their vehicles and be exercise extra cautious while travelling in fog. Adhering to traffic rules is essential for everyone's safety. Taking precautions is necessary to avoid road accidents," said the transport secretary.
