The “e VITARA” is a culmination of extensive research into customer requirements across key markets such as India, Japan, and Europe.
Suzuki Motor Corporation, in an announcement at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, unveiled its first global strategic battery electric vehicle (BEV), the "e VITARA". The highly anticipated real SUV is set to mark a significant milestone in Suzuki's journey toward sustainable mobility.

Speaking at the event, Toshihiro Suzuki, Representative Director and President of Suzuki Motor Corporation, expressed his gratitude to the audience while honoring the memory of his father, Osamu Suzuki, who passed away on December 25, 2024. Suzuki acknowledged his father’s unwavering belief in India’s potential, emphasising that the unveiling of the “e VITARA” represents a continuation of his legacy and Suzuki’s commitment to India.

The “e VITARA” is a culmination of extensive research into customer requirements across key markets such as India, Japan, and Europe. Suzuki outlined a three-step strategy for the BEV’s development:

  1. Creating a BEV-dedicated platform for optimal performance.
  2. Designing products tailored to specific market needs.
  3. Centralising global manufacturing in India to achieve economies of scale.
Suzuki’s Gujarat plant will serve as the global manufacturing hub for the “e VITARA,” with exports planned to over 100 countries, including Europe and Japan. Aligning with the ‘Make in India’ initiative championed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, this move reinforces India’s role as a global manufacturing powerhouse.

The “e VITARA” aligns with Suzuki's 10-year Technology Strategy focused on reducing energy consumption. Suzuki is also working to build a comprehensive BEV ecosystem in India to ensure a seamless experience for customers transitioning to electric mobility.

“As we take this step towards a more sustainable future for India and the world, we look forward to your continued support,” said Suzuki.

Production of the “e VITARA” is set to commence within months, signaling a transformative chapter for Suzuki and the Indian automotive landscape.
