In a move expected to give fillip to the state's semiconductor ecosystem, the Odisha cabinet on Wednesday approved a customised incentive package for RIR Power Electronics, a global semiconductor company, to establish India's first silicon carbide (SiC) semiconductor manufacturing facility in the state. The project, to be implemented in two phases, will cost INR 618.6 crore and is expected to generate 750 jobs.
The ground-breaking ceremony for the facility had been conducted at the Electronic Manufacturing Cluster (EMC) Park in Infovalley, Bhubaneswar, on September 7 last year.
The state will provide subsidy in the form of financial grant after reviewing the project's progress, electronics and IT department secretary, Vishal Kumar Dev, said.
