“We are driven by a vision to revolutionise mobility through innovation and sustainability, making India a hub for both cycle and e-cycle production. The e-cycle market, in particular, is the fastest-growing segment in the EV space, outpacing global sales of electric cars and scooters. The Bharat Mobility Expo is an exceptional platform to demonstrate our capabilities, foster partnerships, and collectively shape the future of transportation in India. By focusing on advanced manufacturing, quality standards, and accessibility, we aim to empower communities and redefine cycling and mobility for generations to come,” said Pankaj Munjal, Chairman and Managing Director of Hero Motors Company.
The Indian e-cycle market, currently valued at USD 1.2 billion, is experiencing a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 9.94%. It is projected to see a 50% increase in manufacturing capacity by 2026. While global e-cycle adoption is more advanced, India is catching up, particularly in major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and Bangalore. These cities are witnessing double-digit annual growth in e-cycle adoption.
“We believe that cycling is not just a sport or hobby but a sustainable and efficient mode of urban transport. Recognising challenges like inadequate infrastructure and high taxation, we advocate for policies that promote cycling culture in India. Our commitment to safety, innovation, and premium-quality bicycles ensures that we continue to lead in providing world-class cycling experiences tailored to modern lifestyles,” stated Ashwani Gautam, CEO of Firefox, a brand associated with HMC.
The overall bicycle market in India is projected to grow by 5.34% between 2025 and 2029, reaching a market volume of USUSD 5.2 billion in 2029. Factors such as increasing urbanisation, health consciousness, and the convenience of online bike sales are contributing to this growth.
