Paybox terminals offer multiple payment options, including Fastag integration, NFC tap-and-pay, and card-based payments.
Pulse Energy has introduced Paybox, an app-free payment solution for electric vehicle (EV) charging. Designed to support two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and four-wheelers, the Paybox terminals eliminate the need for complex mobile applications, making EV charging more accessible and user-friendly. The technology has been rolled out in Bangalore and Mumbai and is set to expand across India.

Affordable and inclusive technology

Unlike traditional payment terminals, Paybox offers an affordable solution, priced at just one-third of the cost of standard systems. By leveraging payment technologies like UPI and UEI, Paybox bridges the gap between advanced technology and financial inclusion, enabling a broader segment of the population to embrace EV charging.

Akhil Jayaprakash, Founder of Pulse Energy, emphasised the inclusivity of the solution, stating:

“Our goal with Paybox is financial inclusion. There is an underserved segment of the population that’s not very tech-savvy. If we truly need to transition to an EV-only world, we need to cater our products to all segments of our population.”

Seamless integration with EV infrastructure

Paybox terminals offer multiple payment options, including Fastag integration, NFC tap-and-pay, and card-based payments.

By addressing the challenge of app dependency—required by many of the 20,000 EV chargers currently deployed in India—Paybox aims to enable users without app-based expertise to charge their vehicles effortlessly.

Pulse Energy aims to achieve 5,000 daily transactions through Paybox by mid-2025, reinforcing its commitment to driving EV adoption and supporting India's transition to a cleaner, greener future.
